Sakayna ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Sakayna platform at sakayna.com and the Sakayna mobile application. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our services.

By using Sakayna, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, mobile phone number, and a PIN for authentication. Riders also provide vehicle details, driver's license, OR/CR documents, and a profile photo for verification purposes.

Location Data: We collect your location when you use the platform to connect you with nearby riders, calculate fares, and provide navigation. Location is collected only while the app or website is actively in use.

Ride Information: We store details of your ride history including pickup and dropoff locations, fare amounts, payment method, ratings, and timestamps.

Device Information: We may collect basic device information such as browser type and device identifier for security purposes (e.g., detecting account sharing).

Communications: Messages sent through our in-app chat, complaint reports, and communications with support are stored for service quality and dispute resolution.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Connect passengers with available riders in General Santos City
Calculate and display ride fares
Verify rider identity and vehicle documents
Process platform fees and wallet credits
Send booking notifications via SMS
Provide customer support and resolve disputes
Improve our platform and user experience
Ensure safety and prevent fraud

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share limited information only in these cases:

Between riders and passengers: During an active booking, your name and phone number are shared with the other party to facilitate the ride.
SMS notifications: We use Semaphore (a Philippine SMS gateway) to send booking alerts. Only your phone number and the message content are transmitted.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by Philippine law, court order, or government regulation.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase (cloud database) with industry-standard encryption. We implement Row Level Security (RLS) policies to restrict data access. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Rights

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), you have the right to:

Access your personal data held by Sakayna
Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Object to certain processing of your data
Lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC)

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Ride history is kept for accounting and dispute resolution purposes. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records for BIR compliance).

7. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage to maintain your login session, save preferences, and cache ride state for a better experience. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. No advertising cookies are used on our platform.

8. Children's Privacy

Sakayna is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@sakayna.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Sakayna after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
